Chapter 12

I’ve been awake for about half an hour, laying on the bed... staring at the ceiling. “Hey, Cryton?”

“Yeah?” He responded.

“Did last night really happen?” I asked.

“Yeah it did. Why do you ask?” He remarked.

“That was one of the best nights I’ve had for awhile,” I told him.

He said in agreement, “Same.”

“After we ate, I just completely crashed when we got up here,” I said.

“You barely got in the bed,” he chuckled.

“When was the last time we slept that good?” I asked.

“I don’t know... maybe it’s been... about a couple of years.” he said.

“It feels like it has been,” I agreed.

“I know, I gotta say that was some of the best food I’ve ever had,” he said to me.

“Same. Hey, breakfast is in about half an hour right?” I asked.

Cryton walked over to the sundial, “Yeah, it’s in about half an hour. What do you think they’ll have?”

“I don’t know. It’s weird... I should be freaking out more than I am, but here, it’s like we are in a whole different world. It’s so surreal. It’s like Thomas is just fine, don’t get me wrong I’m still panicking, but not as much as I was before. I only hope these assignments go quickly so we can get him back.” I stated.

“Hey, I hope so too. We’ll get our first assignment today. I bet it will be quick.” He smiled.

“Oh shit!” I snapped up.

“What Maxine?” Cryton asked.

“I almost forgot about it,” I said.

“Forgot about what?” he asked.

“We’re supposed to spar with Alex today!” I exclaimed.

“Thanks for the reminder,” Cryton said.

“Yeah, he seems like a good kid, I wonder if he will be any good?” I wonderingly asked.

“He might be if he is anything like the rest of the people around here,” Cryton said.
